Who is Matthew Chae?
 
Matthew was born (one of three sons) in Seoul, Korea. At age 4, his parents brought the family to the United States because they wanted the “American dream” for their kids. They moved to northern Virginia where he has lived almost all his life. He is a graduate from the University of Virginia (Wahoo!) and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) graduate from George Mason University.
 
He lives in Fairfax with his lovely wife, Sara, and they are blessed with two sons, Zachary and Jeremy. His passions, outside of helping people, include: spending time with his family and friends, playing board games and watching movies; however, his greatest passion in life is loving God and serving people. He is also an active member of his church.
 
How Did Matthew get started in real estate?
 
Matthew started his career in management & technology consulting by working for one of the nation’s premier management consulting firms (Booz | Allen | Hamilton). After several years with Booz, achieving mid-management level status and receiving his MBA (which he obtained while working full time at Booz), he felt that he wanted to make a greater difference in real people's lives. While in the process of purchasing his first home, he discovered that real estate was a tangible way to serve people, while incorporating his skills in consulting and analysis.
 
Matthew experienced that most of the real estate agents were out to "SELL, SELL, SELL" him and not really help him. They didn't necessarily understand the market fully, they didn't empathize with his needs, and he constantly had the impression they were looking out for their own interests, rather than protecting his. Also, he didn't feel that he was getting a proper education in the home-buying process. In fact, after he found and contracted on his future house, he barely saw or talked to his agent until settlement. In actuality, Matthew did much of the coordinating and negotiating with the seller, finding his own inspectors, lenders and other vendors. It was a very stressful and confusing time.
 
Since Matthew had been a consultant and was in the business of helping people, he sensed there was a real need in the residential real estate market. He felt that if home buyers and sellers received true consulting, knowledgeable advice and help at a personal level, the process could be less stressful and an exciting experience as it should be.
 
It was then that he made a commitment to pursue a business in real estate consulting and sales by gaining a comprehensive understanding of the real estate marketplace, the laws, and the processes. He wanted to utilize what he had gained to fully consult his clients in real estate by putting his clients' interests ahead of his own and not by believing that he has to be the “flashy,” "SELL, SELL, SELL" salesman. He knew that he just had to do things honestly, be his best and treat his clients well.
 
His philosophy has worked well and he truly enjoys getting to know his clients. His client testimonials tell their story.

His ultimate goal with each of his clients is for them to walk away with the thought that their experience was at lease one step above what they had expected from him or any Realtor.  In the end CHAE-care is providing service to his clients at a higher standard than what is expected because, for Matthew, serving his clients is more than just a sale.  It is his calling and his way of serving God through his work.
